Dr. Maryam Mahanian
Dr. Mahanian has been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine for ten years. She graduated in 2002 from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, BC. She also has done a portion of her training in mainland China at two separate hospitals: The Acupuncture hospital in Hefei, Anhui province, and another hospital dealing with both Chinese medicine and western medicine in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province. She is licensed with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners of BC (CTCMA) as a Registered Doctor of TCM and a Registered Acupuncturist. Previous to her training in Chinese Medicine, she majored in General Biology at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Mahanian is a qualified examiner for the past six years with the CTCMA of BC. She operates and evaluates the practical licensing exams for both the Registered Acupuncturist and Registered Doctor of TCM designations. During her schooling in Traditional Chinese Medicine, she worked as a nutritional consultant advising on diet, nutritional and herbal supplements, and sports nutrition on a part-time basis. She also worked at Vancouver General Hospital in the Cardiovascular and Nuclear Medicine research departments.
At the Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Clinic of Vancouver, along with treating a wide range of conditions, Dr. Mahanian focuses on skin disorders, pain management, and women’s health. Some common disorders she treats are eczema, psoriasis, acne, infertility, menstrual problems, menopause, and musculoskeletal conditions. She is also specially trained in cosmetic acupuncture and facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Mahanian has appeared as a guest twice on Breakfast Television and three times on CBC Living Vancouver. She has also been interviewed by Chatelaine Magazine (June 2008 issue) and local newspapers and magazines.
She is currently enjoying her private practice, educating and facilitating others in their paths to healthier lives. She presently lives in North Vancouver with her husband and her two children.
**Please Note: Prior to going on maternity leave in 2011, Dr. Mahanian closed her Kitsilano Vancouver clinic. She has now recently returned from maternity leave and has re-opened her private clinic in the Dollarton-Deep Cove area of North Vancouver, BC. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
